Buying pre-filled sandbags in Canada: a practical ordering guide

Decide what you are ordering, where it needs to go and how it will be received before comparing a bag price with a delivered quote.

Start with the product and the destination

A request for ‘sandbags’ can mean filled bags ready to place, empty bags for filling on site, or a larger sand-and-freight requirement. SandBags.ca supplies pre-filled 18 kg bags; empty bags and bulk requirements are quoted separately. Specify which product you need so that the response covers the right material and handling.

For a delivery request, give the complete destination, including the postal code. A city name alone leaves important questions unanswered: whether the load is going to a business or residence, whether a truck can reach the unloading point, and who will receive it. A national supplier's service area is a starting point for a quote, rather than a promise that every address has the same transport arrangement.

Count bags and pallets separately

One pallet contains 55 bags. Two pallets contain 110 bags and four contain 220 bags. Those are ordering shortcuts, not a requirement to buy a full pallet for local pickup: prepaid pickup starts at one bag.

State both the bag count and the intended use of the order when asking the team for help. For several job sites, separate the quantities by destination. ‘220 bags for two addresses’ can involve a different delivery plan from one 220-bag load to a single site. A written breakdown also helps the person receiving the bags check the delivery against the request.

Separate product price from delivery

The local pickup price is $5.99 CAD per bag plus 5% GST on the bags. One bag is $6.29 including GST; 55 bags are $329.45 plus $16.47 GST, for $345.92 CAD. These are pickup bag totals, not Canada-wide delivered prices.

Delivery is quoted for the address and order. Ask for the written breakdown and agreed arrangements before treating any amount as the final delivered total. A route distance, a website bag subtotal or a quote for another customer does not establish the price for your destination. Delivery is never charged through the pickup checkout.

Choose the ordering route that matches the location

The online pickup checkout covers four locations in Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan. Select the area, enter the pickup name, phone and email, and pay before travelling. The paid receipt contains the exact address and Google Maps directions. The pickup location cannot accept payment for the order.

For British Columbia, other parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic Canada or the territories, request a delivery quote with the full address. Availability, transport options and timing are confirmed for the request. There is no implied pickup counter in each province simply because national supply is available.

Make receiving part of the order

Before confirming a delivery, identify the receiving contact, access restrictions and unloading arrangements. Mention gates, limited access hours, a residential driveway or any equipment that needs to be arranged. Do not assume that a pallet order automatically includes a forklift, unloading equipment or placement at a particular point.

Keep the quote, confirmation and contact details together. If the destination, quantity or access changes, tell the team before dispatch so that the written arrangement can be checked again. For order help, call 1-888-552-7263 or email info@sandbags.ca.
