A pallet is a quantity, not a vehicle recommendation
SandBags.ca uses 55 bags per pallet, with each pre-filled bag weighing 18 kg. This makes pallet quantities easy to specify, but it does not tell you whether a particular car, truck or trailer can carry the order. Plan the whole load before selecting pickup.
The bag-only weights are straightforward: 1 bag is 18 kg; 10 bags are 180 kg; 55 bags are 990 kg; 110 bags are 1,980 kg; and 220 bags are 3,960 kg. Pallets, wrapping and any other packaging add weight. These numbers describe the bags only and should not be used as a complete shipping weight.
Check the full pickup load
A pickup vehicle also carries people, tools and anything already loaded. Check its stated load capacity and the relevant trailer information before making a collection plan. A large cargo area is not a measure of how much weight it can carry.
If you are uncertain, give the bag count to the team and discuss collection or a delivery quote before payment. For pallet collection, confirm loading arrangements at the selected location. Do not assume every vehicle can be forklift-loaded, that a trailer is suitable just because it is available, or that loading equipment is automatically included.
You can choose fewer than 55 bags
Local prepaid pickup starts at one bag. The 55, 110 and 220 shortcuts help customers order pallet multiples; they are not minimum quantities. Select the quantity you actually need and bring a vehicle appropriate for that load.
At the current pickup price, 10 bags cost $59.90 plus $3.00 GST, or $62.90 CAD. A 55-bag order costs $329.45 plus $16.47 GST, or $345.92 CAD. The price does not establish loading equipment, a delivery charge or an agreed freight arrangement. Those details need their own confirmation.
Use different information for a freight quote
For delivery, send the bag count, the number of destinations and the complete addresses. Explain whether the receiving site has suitable unloading equipment and whether there are access limits. If a site can only receive during a short window, include that information in the first request.
Where a carrier or unloading arrangement is needed, wait for confirmation rather than treating the bag-only weight as a ready-to-book transport plan. Delivery pricing and timing depend on the request and are quoted in writing. Delivery cannot be purchased through the local pickup checkout.
Keep the collection paperwork with the load
For Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan pickup, complete online payment before travelling. Save the paid receipt and its Maps link, check the selected location and show the receipt on a phone or as a printed copy. There is no payment at the collection location.
